Ollie and his brothers were part of a hoarding case in North Carolina in which 5 animal sanctuaries came together and rescued 94 pigs. These boys were the first pig rescues at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary. I had been dreaming of having a pig since I was 19 years old. On Nov 1, 2022 (36 years later), that dream came true. Ollie and his brothers were a bit shell-shocked when they arrived. They had never had so much land to roam around and explore. They were incredibly busy little boys at first. They wanted to get to know every inch of the property. Eventually they started to root (where the pigs used their snout to dig for food, turning beautiful grassy fields into muddy plots) and we need to enclose them in a piggy proof area where they could root until their hearts content. They love belly rubs and snacks and will come lie next to you if you sit down near them. If you rub Ollie’s backside, his mane of hair will stand up straight on his back, making him look like porcupine. It’s so cute!

Pigs are surprisingly clean. They are much cleaner than most other animals, and when given a choice, they always choose to "do their business" outside and far away from where they sleep.
