Moose was born on June 29, 2022. Like Mickey, he came from a dairy in Vermont. Moose also didn’t get to stay with his mother as her milk is being sold for human consumption. Like Mickey, Moose would have been slaughtered if we hadn’t been lucky enough to rescue him. We adore this little fellow. He came to Rosies Farm Sanctuary with salmonella and an umbilical cord infection from being left on a dirty concrete floor as a newborn. He received the best medical treatment possible and is growing into a healthy, big boy.

Like humans, cows are pregnant for nine months. They only produce milk when they are pregnant. Cows produce milk to feed their babies. Their milk is rich in fats and vitamins so that their 50-pound calf may grow into a 1000-lb cow. It is baby food.
