Bear looks like a little bear, hence the name. He has brownish-red hair and drooping ears. Bear is a sweetheart. He was only a few months old when we rescued him and he had clearly been eating scraps from trash cans. He wasn’t used to eating proper pig food. It took him a moment to adjust to eating his fruits and vegetables instead of garbage. But, he loves them now. He is a hug fan of cuddles and tummy rubs.
Bear is part of the “Beach Bum” crew. He had been running around wild on the beaches in the Outerbanks, in North Carolina. We think he was probably dumped at the beach. Often people drop off farmed pigs in areas where there are wild boar, in hopes that they will mate and multiply. They then hunt the pigs for sport. We knew we needed to rescue Bear and the “Beach Bums” before they started having babies and medical problems.
