Rebecca

Rebecca is shy and gentle and is still learning that she can trust the people who care for her. She is a devoted mama who always keeps a watchful eye on her babies, while slowly gaining confidence and learning to make new sheep friends at Rosie’s.

For several years, Rosie’s founder Michele had been talking with a local lamb farmer about the possibility of giving a mother sheep and her baby a forever home at Rosie’s. In the spring of 2026, that call finally came. Rebecca had just given birth to two beautiful lambs, River and Willow, but the delivery nearly took her life. She was too sick to nurse her babies, so the farmer began bottle-feeding them himself. As he cared for the tiny lambs, he knew he would become attached to them—and that he wouldn’t be able to send them to slaughter for meat at just four months old. He asked if Rosie’s could take Rebecca and her two babies, and of course, we said yes.

Then their little family grew. A lamb from a neighboring farm had also been unable to nurse from her mother and was being bottle-fed alongside River and Willow. The three lambs had become deeply bonded, and the farmer asked if we would take her, too. We named her Winnie. Today, Rebecca is a devoted mama to all three. She watches over them, protects them, and clearly loves having her little family close. For perhaps the first time in her life, Rebecca will get to watch her babies grow all the way from tiny lambs into adult sheep—and River, Willow, and Winnie will never have to be separated from the family they love. At Rosie’s, the four of them will have something every mother and baby deserves: the chance to spend their lives together.
