The two calves from the short documentary Cow Trip are now best friends at Rosie's Farm Sanctuary. Mickey and Moose arrived here as babies after riding 600 miles from dairy farms in Vermont.

Cows, like all mothers, only produce milk after they have been pregnant and given birth to a baby. In the dairy industry, their calves are often taken away soon after birth so that the milk meant for them can be collected and sold. These babies are seen as by-products, and most do not get the chance to live their lives.

Happily, two farmers decided to let Mickey and Moose live. They were driven from Vermont to our sanctuary in Maryland, where they quickly became best friends.

Where Are They Now?

Mickey and Moose are now safe at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary, where they’re practically inseparable—best friends/brothers who love to graze, wander, and stick close side by side. Mickey is our lovable goofball, always thinking about his next snack and bringing a little extra joy wherever he goes. Moose is more of a gentle free spirit, often gazing out across the pasture as if he’s quietly composing poems in the sunshine. You can follow their adorable adventures on our social media or come meet them on a tour and see their sweet, goofy friendship in person!
