Beaufort gets his name from a potbelly pig in Sebastopol, California who was a good friend of mine. Beaufort and his brothers were part of a hoarding case in North Carolina in which 5 animal sanctuaries came together and rescued 94 pigs. Beaufort is one of the sweetest, most gentle beings I have ever known. Other than eating (which is his all-time favorite activity), he loves to cuddle and be massaged. He isn’t picky on where he likes to be massaged. Back, front, side, ears, tummy, butt… you name it. He just wants you to rub him (before and after you feed him, of course).

Have you ever seen pigs covered in mud? This is because they use mud as sunscreen. They are not able to sweat, so they use mud to keep cool and protect themselves from sunburn.
