Dani was an internet sensation before she even made her way to Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary. She had jumped or fallen from a Smithfield Pork transport truck with another piglet named Mindy. Sadly, Mindy died from injuries sustained from landing on the highway going 60 miles an hour. Miraculously Dani survived and was taken to Sisu Refuge in North Carolina. She immediately got thousands of comments and likes on the internet. People clearly recognized her fighting (and adorable) spirit! Sisu Refuge contacted us about Dani and we were over the moon with excitement to meet our new baby. We were sad that she was going to be alone, but happily another piglet jumped off a Smithfield truck the following week. Dani and her new sister, Sunshine, arrived at Rosie’s Farm Sanctuary in April… and life has never been the same. They are growing rapidly and are incredibly affectionate. And hungry. They are always hungry.

Have you ever seen pigs covered in mud? This is because they use mud as sunscreen. They are not able to sweat, so they use mud to keep cool and protect themselves from sunburn.
